Spring has sprung! What a great winter we had...wait...was there winter? I recently underwent surgery on my thumb (the second time). It hasn’t been easy doing the normal stuff we do around the house every day.

Hopefully, this time, it works, and my thumb will be back in business.

I would like to thank the members who were involved in choosing organizations that are in need at this time. The allocations were decided at our last meeting, and these cheques are in the mail. A list of the charities will be published shortly.

Forestdale Heights is one of the few remaining lodges in B’nai Brith Canada. Sadly, it has come to this. Sure, we all want to stay part of this organization, but it is getting much more challenging to hold on to and bring in new members. The younger generation, it seems, and I know for a fact, have different values on becoming a member of any organization or synagogue. Their responsibilities, i.e. children, school, work, etc., have definitely and should be first on their list. It is so important for our children and/or grandchildren to join a youth organization so that they can be part of our Jewish experience.

I hope we will have our BBQ and/or dinner this summer.

Have a healthy and happy summer.

Debbi
